Resumo:In dealing with the tourism and the education as areas that can be interconnected, it has developed the interest in knowing about tourism as method of teaching, as long as the practice of field classes in education has been going on for a long time, but this practice is little studied by the tourism. In this way, what encourage us to research about this topic was to know the benefits of the field class as method of patrimonial valorization in the city of Currais Novos. The methodology used in our research is divided in: a case study carried out in the municipal school Ausônio Araújo, a qualitative research and this research is based on the method of patrimonial education, and how it deals with children, it was also used the Zone of proximal development, concept developed by Lev Vygotsky, to assess the learning and observing the development of the students during the activity. For data collection, it was carried out an interview with the teacher to know the contents taught in the 3rd grade of the elementary education and the difficulties in realising of an outdoor activity. In addition to use bibliographic search to produce the theoretical chapters, searching themes related to tourism and education, patrimony and tourism, and the teaching of the local history. The results were presented in four steps according to the method of patrimonial education, analysing them according to the theoretical frame, what provided the knowledge of the benefits of a field class provided to the ducation as method of teaching. In conclusion, it was searched to relate the results of similar researches comparing the results. Therefore, we found that the field class is a method which helped in the children learning of the students.
