The tourist inventory process of cities of Polo Seridó started from an extension project of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), entitle “Tourist Inventory of the cities of the Polo Seridó Council’, by the tourism course students of CERES/Campus Currais Novos. The cities that makes up of the Polo Seridó Council Tourism are: Acari, Caicó, Carnaúba dos Dantas, Cerro Corá, Currais Novos, Florânia, Jucurutu, Lagoa Nova, Parelhas and Serra Negra do Norte. They were put recently in the Brazilian Tourism Map according with the update from 2017. The methodology used in tourist inventory refers the same used by the Brazilian Tourism Ministry and the methodology of this work concerns the delimitation of the spatial and temporal clipping; bibliographic and documentary survey; data selection; evaluation of surveys field and evaluation of interview granted by public tourism managers of the cities inventoried. By the way, this study has an empirical and technical basis with a qualitative analytical approach. The results of this work shows that the Polo Seridó cities has tourism potential, but they aren’t destinations consolidated, considering the lack of tourism planning and effective public policies. So, the extension project has as a proposal to do the regular and systematic of the tourist inventory of the cities that are part of the Polo Seridó Tourism Council, because the tourist inventory is the first technical and methodological element for the construction for the tourist planning, because the city comes to know what his had to offer in a detailed way, which allows the best directio to make decisions, implementation of structuring actions and especial, the better performance of public management in the tourism. Also it was found that the municipalities have several tourist enterprises, consequently generating formal jobs, as well as large regional events that generate tourism movement and add value in a generation of wealth, business and jobs.

Este trabalho visa analisar os resultados do projeto de inventariação turística no Polo Seridó, em que os municípios dessa instância de governança regional foram inventariados no período de 2016-2017, a saber: Currais Novos e Lagoa Nova obtiveram a inventariação turística em 2016; e Cerro Corá e Caicó foram inventariados em 2017. O processo de inventariação da oferta turística dos municípios do Polo Seridó se deu a partir de um projeto de extensão da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), intitulado “Inventariação turística dos municípios do Conselho de Turismo do Polo Seridó”, por meio de estudantes do Curso de Turismo CERES/Campus Currais Novos. Os municípios que fazem parte do Conselho de Turismo do Polo Seridó são: Acari, Caicó, Carnaúba dos Dantas, Cerro Corá, Currais Novos, Florânia, Jucurutu, Lagoa Nova, Parelhas e Serra Negra do Norte. Inseridos recentemente no Mapa do Turismo Brasileiro na atualização de 2017. A metodologia adotada da inventariação turística se refere à mesma utilizada pelo Ministério do Turismo, e a metodologia deste trabalho diz respeito à delimitação dos recortes espacial e temporal; levantamento bibliográfico e documental; seleção de dados; avaliação das pesquisas de campo; e avaliação de entrevista concedida por gestores públicos de turismo dos municípios inventariados. Desse modo, este estudo possui método de base empírica e técnica com abordagem analítica de natureza qualiquanti. Os resultados do trabalho mostram que os municípios do Polo Seridó possuem potencialidade turística, porém, ainda não são destinos turísticos consolidados, tendo em vista a falta de planejamento turístico e políticas públicas efetivas. Sendo assim, o referido projeto de extensão tem como proposta a realização periódica e sistemática da inventariação turística dos municípios que integram o Conselho de Turismo do Polo Seridó, em virtude de o inventário turístico ser o primeiro elemento técnico e metodológico para a construção do planejamento turístico, pois o município passa a conhecer sua oferta de forma detalhada, o que possibilita o melhor direcionamento em relação a tomadas de decisões, efetivação de ações estruturantes, e, principalmente da melhor atuação da gestão pública no campo do turismo.
