It is an institution that carries out social work welcoming the elderly and providing the services of basic needs promoting the welfare of the elderly. The nature of the study consists of a qualitative research with descriptive and exploratory approach, we had as a tool for data collection semi-structured interview, being applied to the coordinator and some under aged "Monsenhor Paulo Herôncio". It was identified that the provision of shelter services is active, providing the basic social protection service. currently interning thirty six elderly, but the study included only five elderly as a result of lack of clarity in most of them. The shelter of the old does a decent work ethic promoting the reintegration of people who for different reasons are admitted expecting a better quality of life, care, love and affection. Thinking about it is developed occupational activities, Mass one Sunday a month, birthdays, anniversaries, health care and social assistance. A presente pesquisa tem como tema “gestão social e o acolhimento aos idosos” e possui como objetivo analisar este processo no Abrigo “Monsenhor Paulo Herôncio” discutindo o impacto dos serviços prestados pela instituição junto aos idosos assistidos. Trata-se de uma instituição que realiza um trabalho social acolhendo idosos e prestando os serviços das necessidades básicas promovendo o bem-estar destes. A natureza do estudo consiste em uma pesquisa qualitativa, com abordagem descritiva e exploratória, teve como instrumento para coleta de dados a entrevista semiestruturada, aplicada ao coordenador do abrigo. Identificou-se que a prestação de serviços desta instituição é atuante, oferecendo o serviço de proteção social básica, internando atualmente trinta e seis idosos. O abrigo dos velhos realiza um trabalho digno, ético promovendo a reintegração de pessoas que por distintos motivos estão internados esperando uma melhor qualidade de vida, cuidados, carinho e afeto.
