description We witnessed with a look increasingly worrying, the results of socio-environment crisis, whose triggering occur according to the model of interaction established among the man and the nature. We realized the relevance of such implications, when we come across with the intensity and speed of propagation of anthropic activities about the environments, whose repercussion have corroborated significantly in environments causes, once that such processes, have contributed by adversely affect a big amplitude of environments whether these are terrestrial or aquatics. Among the anthropic actions, the consumer behavior show specially concern. Conspicuous consumption is the visible behavior, susceptible of statement of status in front of another. This behavior is expressed in the form of purchase and possession in use of products and services whose motivation is the communication of a distinct image to the other. In turn, sustainable consumption is conceived as ecological awareness in the purchase of the products and services, not wasting of resource and the usual attitude of the recycling of materials and products seeking as last purpose, the minimizing of the consumer behavior. The Evolutionary Psychology provide theoretical conceptions about of human mind, in which as of basic principles related with the idea Darwinist’s of natural selection and sexual, involve a different perspective when analyze the process behavioral human in front of consumption in actuality, provide significant insights for your better understanding. The current research is of quantitative character descriptive, whole data collection occurred through of the application of questionnaire structured type on students of Ecology course from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN. The results corroborated with the expected from research that the students of Ecology demonstrate low tendency to the conspicuous consumption. However, although report a low tendency, was found a negative correlation signficant between conspicuous consumption and the factor resource economics. These findings suggest the existence of a parallel among the conspicuous posture and the hypothesis of costly signaling in which the individuals seek to display your indicators of fitness for the acquisition of a social status.

Presenciamos com um olhar cada vez mais preocupante, os resultados de uma crise socioambiental, cujo desencadeamento ocorre conforme o modelo de interação estabelecido entre o homem e a natureza. Percebemos a relevância de tais implicações, ao nos depararmos com a intensidade e velocidade de propagação das atividades antrópicas sobre o meio, cuja repercussão tem corroborado significativamente para as causas ambientais uma vez que tais processos têm contribuído por afetar uma grande amplitude de ambientes quer sejam estes terrestres ou aquáticos. Dentre as ações antrópicas, o comportamento de consumo vem se mostrando especialmente preocupante. Consumo conspícuo é o comportamento visível, passível de afirmação de status perante o outro. Tal comportamento se expressa na forma de compra e no uso de produtos e serviços cuja motivação é a comunicação de uma distinta imagem para o outro. Por sua vez, consumo sustentável é concebido como a consciência ecológica na compra de produtos e serviços, não desperdício de recursos e a postura rotineira da reciclagem de materiais e produtos, buscando como propósito final, a minimização do comportamento consumista. A Psicologia Evolucionista fornece concepções fundamentais acerca da mente humana, na qual, a partir de princípios básicos relacionados às ideias darwinistas de seleção natural e sexual, traz uma perspectiva diferenciada ao analisar os processos comportamentais humanos diante do consumo na atualidade. A presente pesquisa apresenta caráter quantitativo descritivo, cujo o levantamento dos dados ocorreu através da aplicação de questionário do tipo estruturado aos estudantes do curso de Ecologia da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte – UFRN. Os resultados corroboraram com o esperado da pesquisa, de que os estudantes da ecologia demonstram baixa tendência à práticas de consumo conspícuo. Entretando, mesmo observando uma baixa tendência, foi encontrada uma correlação negativa significativa entre consumo conspícuo e o fator economia de recursos.
