Resumo:Nowadays, enteroparasitosis are considered a serious public health issue, especially in both underdeveloped and developing countries; in Brazil, they present high prevalence in population with poor socioeconomic and basic sanitation conditions, being children the most affected by intestinal parasitosis. Enterobiasis is a parasitosis caused by the helminth Enterobius vermicularis, and its main feature when symptomatic is the nocturnal perianal pruritus which is caused by the presence of eggs and larvae of the parasite in perianal area of the affected patient, leading to irritability, insomnia, nervousness and secondary infectious. The present work was performed in two Municipal Nursery Schools located in Natal city, state of Rio Grande do Norte, in order to not only identify the prevalence of the helminth Enterobius vermicularis but also to treat the affected individuals and provide information about prophylactic measures to community to minimize the prevalence of this enteroparasitosis and other ones. All 62 biological samples were collected using Graham technique and analyzed using optical microscope with powers at 10x and 40x, obtaining an overall positivity observed in 9,67% (N=6) for E. vermicularis. The obtained results suggest that using a specific methodology for the presence of E. vermicularis is extremely important in order to obtain reliable results regarding the incidence of this parasite. It also suggests that educational measures to promote community awareness are necessary as well as government actions that aim to minimize diseases caused by environment and promote the improvement of public health and ecosystems.
