We chose to use bibliographic research on the themes of gender and religion as a methodological tool, as well as the ethnographic methodology and the case study, as research strategies. The data were analyzed from previously established aspects, such as the performance of ritualistic tasks in the functions that took place in the terreiro, clothing, religious transit and recognition of the space of the terreiro as a place of reception of non-hegemonics identities. Thus, the participant observation, using the field diary for the continuous recording of the experiences lived and the semi-structured interviews, considering the narrative of the interlocutor's life, was essential for the development of this work. Finally, the research points to an understanding of the limits of transits and negotiations established between the exercise of gender identity and the exercise of faith itself. Esse trabalho investiga como é exercida a identidade de gênero e como se dão as relações adjacentes de sociabilidade de uma mulher transexual adepta do Candomblé e da Jurema Sagrada, no que se refere à divisão sexista que rege o funcionamento de tarefas e atividades dentro dos rituais dessas religiões, bem como se apresentam elementos designativos de feminilidades e masculinidades, num terreiro localizado na região metropolitana de Natal. Optou-se por utilizar como ferramenta metodológica a pesquisa bibliográfica acerca das temáticas de gênero e religião, assim como, a metodologia de cunho etnográfico e o estudo de caso, como estratégias de pesquisa. Os dados foram analisados a partir de aspectos previamente estabelecidos, como desempenho de tarefas ritualísticas nas funções ocorridas no terreiro, vestimenta, trânsito religioso e reconhecimento do espaço do terreiro como lugar de acolhimento de identidades não hegemônicas. Desse modo, a observação participante, utilizando o diário de campo para o contínuo registro das vivências experienciadas e as entrevistas semi estruturadas, considerando a narrativa de vida da interlocutora, foi de caráter imprescindível para o desenvolvimento deste trabalho.
