Resumo: | Today, design engineers are facing many challenges created by the industry, mainly related to shrinking errors and time optimization through the product development process. Furthermore, an enhancing demand by some sectors from industry, such as aerospace and automotive, for lightweight products. The accomplishment of these impositions are directly related to the product financial success.
To achieve the demands of time optimization and the decrease of errors, an implementation of a clear and systematic process is needed, guiding the designer to success. Moreover, the application of computational tools that integrates all project information.
Meanwhile, to deliver the necessities of an optimized product, it is used the structural optimization method, which includes Topology, Shape and Size Optimization Methods.
Both subjects are well explored, however, there is a gap of information in the combination between them in literature. Thus, this paper intends to present a product development model, in which the Topology Optimization Method is integrated into its process. To exemplify and reach the goals of this paper was developed a bicycle made of bamboo, starting from the beginning stages of a product development process until the application of structural optimization.
From the exemplification, was possible to find the most appropriated position to include structural optimization methods on the product development process used in this paper. |
