Resumo:The present work deals with the sizing and design of the components of a disc brake system (pedal, master cylinder, and brake caliper), applied to an SAE Baja type vehicle, from the Car-kará team of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Aiming to participate in the 26th Baja SAE Brazil 2020 Competition. The work is divided into 3 stages: Definition of objectives and boundary conditions, system sizing and component design, and validation and analysis of results. The boundary conditions were defined based on the requirements imposed by the dynamic competition safety test and the desired performance. In the dimensioning and design stage of the components, the mechanical and hydraulic extensions acting on the system are calculated and defined. A master cylinder and brake caliper were also devised to meet the design assumptions. Then, the detailed design of these components was carried out, explaining the characteristics and the selected manufacturing processes. The validation and analysis of the results were performed through structural simulations made using the finite element method, using CAD and CAE (Computer Aided Design and Engineering) software. Subsequently, the reliability of the components and the achievement of the objectives were verified.
