Resumo:The apprenticeship institute is perhaps the largest instrument for inclusion of young people in the brazilian job Market, being closely linked to the various sectors of the national economy. In the municipality of Caicó/RN it also plays this unique role, serving as an entry mechanism for many young people in the local labor market. Thus, the main objective of this work was to analyze the apprenticeship contract in the city for better understanding about how this contract has been executed. This paper presents an overview of its efficiency between 2017 and 2019 in the municipality of Caicó, describing the main execution issues and their possible causes. Therefore, it was elaborated a quantitative and qualitative investigation, based on data collection of the main institutions involved with the operationalization of local apprenticeship, as well as a bibliographic revision of the thematic and studies of the legislation and pertinent jurisprudence. It was found that only a small part of the apprenticeship potential has been achieved in the municipality, due to the inexpressive labor inspection and the high rate of noncompliance of mandatory quotas by the Caicó’s employers. In this sense, it was concluded that although the apprenticeship contract is an instrument of effective inclusion in the labor market, in the municipality of Caicó it is still used far below its true potential, being required a governamental intervention to significantly expand labor inspection in the city. It is also pointed out the possibility of the local scenario is being repeated throughout the national territory, and this research may serve as a starting point for future others that aims to ascertain the efficiency of the learning program at a higher level.
