Resumo:The current scenario of worldwide crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the tourism sector drastically, inserted in this so challenging and improbable context, in which the use of technologies directed to this area have highlighted as alternative tools to the return of this activity which is so relevant to the economy of a great deal of countries. In this view, this research aims to understand the use of mobile applications as tools for travel planning in the pandemic time of COVID-19. The adopted methodology is descriptive-exploratory with a qualitative approach, whose universe is a finite population of twelve respondents residing in the Northeastern region in Brazil who have used mobile tourism apps as technological tools for travel planning in times of COVID-19. The data collection was carried out through the application of a questionnaire comprising a script of a semi structured interview with six questions about the profile of the interviewee, and nine other specific and related questions to the studied theme. The interviews were conducted in August 2021 via Google Meet, Videocall by WhatsApp, by email, and in person when possible, and with the consent of the respondent. By analyzing the collected data, it was noticed that the respondents used the mobile apps as relevant technological tools for travel planning in the present time of COVID-19 pandemic, whereby they do survey of prices and/or get products and tourist services, check important information on the places they are going, contributing to a better planning of the trip with more usefulness, agility, and better prices.
