description With the prospect of expanding the discussions and actions on education beyond the school walls, we discuss in this study the importance of hospital class implementation in the pediatric ward of the University Hospital Onofre Lopes (HUOL / UFRN). The school theme is justified by the need to better understand the relevance of this service in the institution. In this sense, the research aims to investigate the importance of hospital class implementation in the pediatric ward of HUOL, guaranteed the right of the continuity of children and adolescents continue to study when they are unable to attend regular school. The methodology used was the Educational Research Qualitative Approach that "involves obtaining tend descriptive data obtained in direct contact of the researcher with the situation studied, emphasizes more the process than the product and is concerned to portray the perspective of the participants" (LUDKE; ANDRÉ 1986, p.13). As procedures for data collection, use: analysis of official documents and authors who discuss the subject, semi-structured interviews with pedagogues who work in hospital class institution and participant observation in order to meet the proposed objective. The results obtained with this study confirm the importance of hospital class implementation in the pediatric ward of HUOL. It was noted that with the implementation, there was an improvement in the quality of care to patients / students admitted to the University Hospital Onofre Lopes (HUOL), with the pedagogical performed according to the reality of them in order to give continuity to its softening studies thus possible losses caused by school distance.

Pro-Reitoria de Pesquisa Com a perspectiva de ampliar as discussões e ações sobre a educação para além dos muros escolares, abordaremos nesta pesquisa a importância da implementação de classe hospitalar na ala pediátrica do Hospital Universitário Onofre Lopes (HUOL/UFRN). A escola da temática se justifica pela necessidade de melhor compreender a relevância desse serviço na instituição. Neste sentido, a pesquisa tem como objetivo investigar a importância da implementação de classe hospitalar na ala pediátrica do HUOL, garantido o direito da continuidade de crianças e adolescentes continuarem estudando, quando estão impossibilitados de frequentarem a escola regular. A metodologia utilizada foi a Abordagem Qualitativa da Pesquisa Educacional que “envolve a obtenção de dados tendencialmente descritivos, obtidos no contato direto do pesquisador com a situação estudada, enfatiza mais o processo do que o produto e se preocupa em retratar a perspectiva dos participantes” (LUDKE; ANDRÉ, 1986, p.13). Como procedimentos para obtenção dos dados, utilizamos: análise de documentos oficiais e autores que discutem a temática, entrevista semiestruturada com as pedagogas que atuam na classe hospitalar da instituição e observação participante, a fim de responder o objetivo proposto. Os resultados obtidos de acordo com esta pesquisa, confirmam a importância da implementação de classe hospitalar na ala pediátrica do HUOL.
