Intelectuais. Celebração. História da educação. This article seeks to analyze Nestor Lima's contributions to the Teacher's Day institution in Brazil. Nestor Lima was Director of the Department of Education of the State of Rio Grande do Norte between 1924 and 1929; Secretary General of the State in 1930 and chaired the Penitentiary Council from 1933 to 1959; Attorney General of the State in 1943 and chaired the Historical and Geographic Institute of Rio Grande do Norte from 1927 remaining 32 years in this position. The intellectual has also held numerous other public positions and represented the state in national and international trips and events. His sources were "A Century of Primary Education", which recorded the discussions and organization for the celebration of the centennial of the imperial law of October 15, 1827, and printed in the Hemeroteca Digital. The analysis was at the interface with the Ginzburg (1989) Indicarial Method and Sirinelli (2003)'s understanding of intellectuals and sociabilities. We concluded that Nestor Lima is recognized as the subject responsible for indicating the date for the Teacher's Day celebration through a network of sociabilities with state presidents and directors of public instruction of the states of Paraná, Paraíba, Rio de Janeiro, Sergipe, Alagoas, São Paulo, Bahia and Pernambuco. It was verified that although the movement in favor of the institution of the Teacher's Day started around 1923, Nestor Lima was the only character cited in newspapers of other states as an intellectual who suggested and mobilized, through his engagement, the creation of October 15 in honor of the Teacher's Day. Neste artigo, busca-se analisar as contribuições de Nestor Lima para a instituição do Dia do Professor no Brasil. Nestor Lima foi Diretor do Departamento de Educação do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte entre 1924 e 1929; Secretário Geral do Estado em 1930 e presidiu o Conselho Penitenciário de 1933 a 1959; Procurador Geral do Estado em 1943 e presidiu o Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Rio Grande do Norte a partir de 1927 ficando 32 anos neste cargo. O intelectual também desempenhou outros inúmeros cargos públicos e foi representante do estado em viagens e eventos nacionais e internacionais. Constituíram-se como fontes a obra “Um século de ensino primário”, que registrou as discussões e organização para celebração do centenário da lei imperial de 15 de outubro de 1827, e impressos presentes na Hemeroteca Digital. A análise se deu na interface com o método indiciário de Ginzburg (1989) e o entendimento de Sirinelli (2003) sobre intelectuais e sociabilidades. Concluímos que Nestor Lima se reconhece como sujeito responsável pela indicação da data à celebração do Dia do Professor mediante rede de sociabilidades com presidentes de Estados e Diretores de Instrução Pública dos Estados do Paraná, Paraíba, Rio de Janeiro, Sergipe, Alagoas, São Paulo, Bahia e Pernambuco.
