Still tries to demystify the idea that storytelling is only to calm the children, and show that goes beyond that, because it has a significant role in children's learning. It is known that as the child is taken to the world of imagination, he is enticed to take an interest in reading and writing. This work is the result of internship experience supervised III, which aimed to encourage the child to learn in a playful and pleasurable way through story-telling. Este estudo trata da importância da contação de história no ciclo de alfabetização. Tem como objetivo mostrar que a contação de história tem um papel fundamental na rotina escolar do aluno, e que é um método que deve se estender ao longo do tempo, ou seja, que deve ser constante no processo de alfabetização. Intenta ainda desmistificar a ideia que a contação de história é somente para acalmar as crianças, e mostrar que vai além disso, pois a mesma exerce uma função significativa na aprendizagem da criança. Sabe-se que à medida que se leva a criança ao mundo da imaginação, ela é instigada a se interessar pela leitura e escrita.
