In addition, it aims to understand reading as a part of this strategy used in the classroom. Maintaining a routine with stories leads the student to have contact with books, changing his mind into fantasy, imagination, and creativity. Besides, there have been always people telling stories in the world, so now it will not be ignored by the teacher’s planning. For this reason, the parents creating the link between stories and their children since they are babies is relevant because one’s good habits come from the family. The moment of narrating a fairytale or a fable, no matter which it is, is very precious and stimulates the curiosity of the child. The playfulness needs to be part of every storytelling and its importance can be noticed in the teacher’s planning, especially in early childhood education, not underestimating the elementary education, but in this phase, the children are younger and full of fantasy, they believe in anything, they live in a magic world. However, storytelling must not be forgotten under any hypothesis because the student’s education also depends on this. O presente artigo tem a intenção de mostrar a importância da contação de historias na educação infantil, bem como a sua contribuição quanto ao processo de ensino e aprendizagem. Tem também por objetivo compreender a leitura com parte dessa estratégia usada em sala de aula. Manter uma rotina de histórias conduz o aluno ao contato com os livros, transformando sua mente em fantasia, imaginação e criatividade, além do mais, sempre existiram pessoas contando histórias no mundo, então não é hoje que ela vai ser ignorada no planejamento do professor. Por isso, desde bebes é interessante os pais criarem esse vinculo entre a história e seu filho, pois os bons hábitos começam pela família. O momento de narrar um conto de fadas ou fábulas, seja qual for o tipo, é muito precioso, estimula a curiosidade da criança. A ludicidade precisa fazer parte de toda contação de histórias, e é em um planejamento feito pelo educador que se percebe o quanto é fundamental isso, principalmente se tratando da educação infantil, não menosprezando o ensino fundamental, mas nessa fase as crianças são bem pequeninas e cheias fantasias, acreditam em tudo, vivem no mundo da magia.
