Resumo:The present research aims to analyze the advantages and possible disadvantages of literacy when developed from a literacy perspective; thus, a bibliographical research was elaborated to organize a synthesis of the history of literacy in Brazil, observing and discussing the methods most discussed and applied in the country. To evaluate the use of these methods, analytical and synthetic, we conducted a research with (9) nine teachers from the public school system, who work with a cycle of alababetization. The scholars who supported the construction of this work are: Broto and Paula (2010), Silva (2010), Frade (2005), among others that discuss this theme. In the course of the work, the importance of working with literacy in conjunction with literacy is discussed, since, in this way the students' previous knowledge is valued, since many of the children enrolled in the first year of elementary school already have considerable knowledge on letters, syllables; in addition to already being able to tell stories, to give an opinion, to understand what is happening to them. From the research with nine teachers who work in the public school system, one can see how important it is to work with stimulating methodologies, to have the support of parents and, above all, for teachers to be committed professionals and constantly in training, such as for example the PNAIC - National Literacy Program in the Right Age. It was emphasized the importance of a joint work of literacy in the perspective of literacy, because one learning complements the other, so that, in fact, a student can be formed able to read, interpret and give opinions about the environment in which it is inserted.
