Presents literacy as a complex process on the construction of knowledge and for this to happen as expected it is necessary to understand the child as an active subject of this process, making -If active, critical and reflective individuals on social practices. This research also emphasizes the steps by which the child begins to master the process and reading and writing and how family intervention in school contribute positively in the development of this knowledge. Currently ensure that children learn to read and write is the great dilemma of the teacher at the school. This article is one of the goals understand the reasons that prevent the students to develop their reading and writing skills at the right age, also demonstrating the importance of teacher planning and how this can act at school before this increasingly common situation. O presente trabalho aborda a temática alfabetização e letramento nos anos iniciais, onde é debatido como este processo acontece e quais as dificuldades que enfrenta no contexto atual. Visto que o ensino aprendizagem no ambiente escolar não vem apresentando grandes resultados. Apresenta a alfabetização como um processo complexo ligado a construção do conhecimento e para que isto aconteça da forma esperada se faz necessário entender a criança como sujeito ativo deste processo, tornando –se indivíduos ativos, críticos e reflexivos diante das práticas sociais. Esta pesquisa também enfatiza as etapas pela qual a criança passa até dominar o processo e leitura e escrita e como a intervenção da família junto a escola contribui de forma positiva no desenvolvimento destes conhecimentos. Atualmente garantir que a criança aprenda a ler e escrever é o grande dilema do professor junto a escola.
