Resumo:Currently education is acquiring new directions and challenges. Reading and writing have meaning cannot be seen as simple decoding signs. In the current situation, it is necessary to develop potential through learning that will foster the ability of understanding of individuals, interpretation and production of knowledge coming from a globalized and competitive society that increasingly requires knowledge and skills. The literacy process over time has undergone several transformations leaving school an elitist and discriminatory role. Through observations and data collection, I found that the difficulties currently affecting the process of literacy and literacy in the early grades in public schools are enormous because there are many problems to be solved. Unfortunately some educators still work with traditional concepts only retransmit or transmit knowledge based on memorization and repetitive activities leaving the student more and more attached to copy the answers ready, having difficulty in formulating their own thoughts and conclusions, because we know that literacy processes and literacy leads the student learn to think and improve their skills to face the world. We know that these difficulties come from the lack of support from family, more investment in continuing education programs for literacy teachers, lack of technological resources in schools and mostly lack the commitment of all in order to improve the quality of education so that one day we live in a democratic and equal society for all finally have access to knowledge.
