Resumo:The present scientific article deals with the importance of games for children from 0 to 3 years old. The same is based on the official documents of the Ministry of Education and aims to define the conceptions of play, toys, games, playful and playfulness, as well as the learning of children from 0 to 3 years from the Vygotskyan theory. In order to do so, a qualitative bibliographical research based on the National Curriculum Frameworks for Early Childhood Education (1998), National Curriculum Guidelines for Early Childhood Education (2010), Quality Indicators in Early Childhood Education, (2009), Children's Play and Play nursery - pedagogical guidance manual (2012); reflecting Kishimoto (2002), Oliveira (1979) and Vygotsky (1998) on the importance of playing for children in the teaching and learning process. Thus, this article will serve as a theoretical subsidy and will contribute to the pedagogical practice of teachers of early childhood education, especially in kindergartens, in a meaningful way to understand the importance of play in the learning process of children from 0 to 3 years.
