Resumo:This work brings the discussion on the integration of the people with disabilities into social and e ducational context and the searching for the conquest of autonomy. In this sense, the present study aims to investigate the occurrences that influence in the emancipation and the independence of people with special educational needs. The methodological form used in this research was the qualitative form through the application of a questionnaire and the testimony of a visually impaired person - submitted to this study - to collect data. After analyzing the results, it is concluded that the lack of early stimulation slows the physical and motor developments and consequently increases the dependence of the visually impaired person to other people; the specialized institutions and regular schools contribute primarily on the process of training and learning of the visually impaired person, regarding to orientation and mobility, Braille reading and writing, and digital medias, which provides increasement of the autonomy in people with blindness.
