The literacy studies are increasingly making effective in different areas of knowledge, whether in the school sector, teacher training, in the digital environment, in professional activities, showing thus the fruitful transformation in this field of study. Methodologically follows the approach of qualitative and quantitative research (BOGDAN; BILKLEN, 1994; CHIZZOTTI, 2000). Theoretically, the research adopts as grants study publications related distance learning (MORAN, 2002; VITAL and MAIA, 2010; UAB, 2010; SILVA, 2012); studies of literacy (KLEIMAN, 1995; 2001; OLIVEIRA, 2008; 2012; HAMILTON, 2000; SREET, 2007; MARINO, 2010) and teacher formation (FREIRE, 2007; ALARCÃO, 2003). Partial results indicate difficulties of students in racing study the disciplines of language, especially because of inexperience with the production academic text, in addition the lack of feedback of these productions in the desire improve writing and other aspects of the text. Esta pesquisa tem por objetivo analisar quais as principais dificuldades dos graduandos em formação inicial do Curso de licenciatura em Pedagogia, na modalidade a distância, ofertado pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), no que compete as práticas de letramento na academia, bem como quais as contribuições das disciplinas de linguagem na formação dos discentes. Os estudos do letramento estão cada vez mais se efetivando em diferentes áreas do conhecimento, seja no domínio escolar, na formação de professores, no ambiente digital, nas atividades profissionais, evidenciando assim, as profícuas transformações nesse campo de estudo. Metodologicamente, segue a abordagem da pesquisa qualitativa e quantitativa (BOGDAN; BILKLEN, 1994; CHIZZOTTI, 2000). Teoricamente, a pesquisa adota como subsídios para o estudo as publicações relacionadas a educação a distância (EaD) (MORAN, 2002; VITAL E MAIA, 2010; UAB, 2010; SILVA, 2012); aos estudos de letramento (KLEIMAN, 1995; 2001; OLIVEIRA, 2008; 2012; HAMILTON, 2000; SREET, 2007, MARINHO, 2010) e a formação docente (FREIRE, 2007; ALARÇÃO, 2003).
