The methodology used was a bibliographical review and databases analysis that allowed the verification of the proposed results. As a result, it was found that the goal of reducing regional disparities, reducing imports of diesel and diversifying the raw materials for biodiesel production, were not achieved as stipulated in the program. However, although with a minimal participation, biodiesel was inserted as a new biofuel in the Brazilian energy matrix, generating numerous benefits for the environment. As for the family farmers, these, also, were inserted in this productive chain, although of unequal form, by Brazilian region. Although the program has leveraged the diversification of the energy matrix, with the insertion of a new biofuel, and created new jobs for the rural man, the PNPB still needs adjustments to meet all the posts proposed by the policy. O presente estudo tem por objetivo avaliar o Programa Nacional de Produção e Uso do Biodiesel (PNPB) no Brasil, de seu lançamento até os dias atuais e, verificar se os resultados obtidos condizem com o planejado pelo programa. A metodologia utilizada foi uma revisão bibliográfica e uma análise documental que permitiu a verificação dos resultados propostos. Como resultados, constatou-se que o objetivo de reduzir as disparidades regionais, diminuir as importações de diesel e diversificar as matérias-primas para fabricação do biodiesel, não foram atendidos, conforme estipulava o programa. Entretanto, ainda que, com uma participação mínima, o biodiesel foi inserido como novo biocombustível na matriz energética brasileira, gerando inúmeros benefícios para o meio ambiente. Quanto aos agricultores familiares, estes, também se inseriram nessa cadeia produtiva, embora de forma desigual, por região brasileira.
