Resumo:The presente study aimed to reflect on the female labor market, focusing on health departament, basing from the understanding of the International Labor Organization (ILO). The choice of the health system’s due to the expressive formalization of its services, the high rates of innovation present in the activities, the schooling of its employments, generally above avarage and fundamentally, due to the expressive presence of the female gender in all areas health. The hypothesis of the study is that, despite great advances, the labor market in general, in health in particular, continues to discriminate against women, both in terms of remuneration, equal opportunities, and distribution of occupations, in comparison to their gender pairs male. The methodology includes a literature review related to the theme "Woman", the labor market and the decent work agenda of the ILO, and a field research with the three Unions of the health area (Union of Doctors of the RN - SINMED, Union of Nurses of the State of Rio Grande do Norte - SINDERN, Professional union of auxiliaries and technicians of nursing of the state of Rio Grande do Norte - SIPERN). In addition, three professionals from the area were also heard. Among the main results, it is verified that in Brazil, in the last decades, there has been a significant and continuous increase in the presence of women in the contingent of the Economically Active Population (EAP). Currently, in the health sector, in general, women represent more than 70% of all work force. However, the study concludes that women receive lower wages. Even though it’s a number of equal hours as men, because the strategic positions continue to be occupied by men. It’s also concluded that the overload caused by the double or triple working day causes evasion in the labor market, this being the main difficulty faced by the health professional.
