Resumo:Globally known for the high rates of waste in its processes, the construction industry is increasingly interested in the principles of Lean Thinking (LT). This new way of thinking adapted to the needs and particularities of the precast industry can act as an antidote to losses. As a tool for systematic implementation of LT principles, value stream mapping (VSM) allows the identification of the value chain and losses involved in the constructive processes. This research aims to propose improvements in the process of execution of precast concrete posts, from a perspective of the principles of LT, using the VSM to identify waste and propose a future state. For this the chosen research approach was the exploratory case study. The results indicate: waiting, movement, little transparency in the process and high labor wastage, as the main components of the time that does not add value to the process. The VSM besides allowing to see the wastes and value chain, guided the proposition of improvements to the mapped process.
