However, for this supply to be effectively delivered and bring financial return to the Service Provider, conscious resource management is required.This article corresponds to a diagnosis of the WSS from part of the Redinha neighborhood, located in Natal city on Rio Grande do Norte state. The water and sewage company that serves the county is the Compainha de Água e Esgoto do Rio Grande do Norte (CAERN), which, in order to meet the demand for water in the north part of the city, captures water from the “Lagoa de Extremoz” and some tubular wells, make the raw water treatment on Extremoz Water Treatment Station (WTS) and distributes through lifting stations for the systems named 8, 14, 15 and 16. The Redinha neighborhood is part of the system 8 and is supplied by the sectoral reservoir R8. The diagnosis of the study area was based on data from the Pentaho software and examination on the CAD platform archives of the company's operation and maintenance sectors, containing the distribution networks of the Natal North Zone.With these data, it was possible to characterize the region through the insolvency and micro-measurement indexes, as well as the analysis of the neighborhood water distribution infrastructure. This diagnosis revealed a high insolvency rate, low micro-measurement and lack of distribution networks in many streets of the analyzed area.These aspects show that the studied region is underused and has a low water distribution versuscollection ratio.

Os sistemas de abastecimento de águas (SAA) são compostos de etapas que vão desde a captação de água nos mananciais até o atendimento aos clientes através da rede de distribuição e da ligação ou ramal predial. Entretanto, para que esse abastecimento seja efetuado de forma eficaz e traga retorno financeiro ao prestador de serviço é necessária uma gestão consciente dos recursos. O presente artigo corresponde a um diagnóstico do SAA de parte do bairro Redinha, localizado no município de Natal/RN. O responsável pelos serviços de abastecimento de água e esgotamento sanitário no município é a Companhia de Águas e Esgotos do Rio Grande do Norte (CAERN), que para atendimento da demanda de água da zona norte da capital capta água da lagoa de Extremoz e alguns poços tubulares, realiza o tratamento da água bruta na Estação de Tratamento de Água (ETA) Extremoz e recalca através de estações elevatórias para os sistemas denominados 8, 14, 15 e 16. O bairro Redinha faz parte do sistema 8 e é abastecido pelo reservatório setorial R8. O diagnóstico da área de estudo foi realizado a partir de dados do software Pentaho, consultas aos arquivos na plataforma CAD, do setor de operação e manutenção da companhia, contendo as redes de distribuição da zona norte de Natal. De posse desses dados foi possível a caracterização da região através dos percentuais de inadimplência e micromedição, bem como a análise da infraestrutura de distribuição de água do bairro. Tal diagnóstico constatou um elevado índice de inadimplência, baixa micromedição e inexistência de redes de distribuição em muitas ruas do recorte geográfico analisado.
