The sector has always been considered as one of the main causes of accidents at work and deaths, even with the decline of the market and the fall in the number of workers in the last years. Within civil construction, work at heights is recurrent and a routine activity, however it is always an event that worries professionals of safety and workers in the sector itself, after all it is a dangerous activity that it is one of the biggest responsible for the alarming number of accidents. The causes of these accidents vary and may occur due to lack of planning, knowledge, training, information or even misuse or misunderstanding of safety preventive procedures. Thus, it is necessary to intervene in risks situations, regularizing process, anticipating the risks, controlling them and providing adequate safety to the workers. Therefore, this study aimed to perform an application analysis of regulatory standards for this type of activity in two construction sites of different construction companies at Natal/RN in order to assess the conditions for safety in these locations. For this purpose, visits were made to the sites and interviews were conducted with those responsible for the work as well as a checklist based on the regulatory standards NR 6, NR 18 and NR 35. O setor da construção civil é dinâmico e possui diversas atividades e serviços que oferecem múltiplos riscos à saúde e a integridade de seus trabalhadores. O ramo sempre foi considerado como um dos principais causadores dos acidentes de trabalho e dos óbitos deles decorridos, mesmo com a regressão do mercado e queda do número de trabalhadores exercendo funções nesse setor nos últimos anos. Dentro da construção civil, o trabalho em altura é uma atividade recorrente e rotineira, porém é sempre um evento que causa preocupação para os profissionais da Segurança do Trabalho e para os trabalhadores, afinal possui um alto nível de periculosidade e pode ser considerada como uma das maiores responsáveis pelo número alarmante de acidentes. As causas desses acidentes variam e podem ocorrer por falta de planejamento, conhecimento, treinamento, informações ou mesmo utilização equivocada e entendimento errado dos procedimentos preventivos de segurança. Assim, faz-se necessária a intervenção nas situações de risco, para regularizar o processo, prevendo os riscos, controlando-os e dando a devida proteção aos trabalhadores. Sendo assim, o objetivo desse trabalho foi realizar uma análise da aplicação das normas regulamentadoras para esse tipo de atividade em dois canteiros de diferentes construtoras no município de Natal/RN, a fim de que se avalie as condições de trabalho quanto à segurança nesses ambientes.
