The teaching/learning process can be affected by several conditions, including the physical characteristics of the classroom. In this sense, acoustic conditioning is an important variable, since the spoken word is the main instrument of knowledge transmission adopted by most teachers. Acoustic inadequancies can make learning difficult, causing distraction or non-perception of speech and causing the development of health problems in both students and teachers. Therefore, it is justified to study the ways to improve the acoustic conditioning of school environments with a view to the permanent improvement of the teaching and learning process. The present work aims to develop a comparative study between two identical classrooms, after acoustic adjustments performed in one of them. The adopted methodology involved the collection of information about all the elements that influence the reflection, absorption, and transmission of sound waves in the referred spaces and the effects of the constructive materials, dimensions and acoustic parameters as variables capable of influencing the perception of the spoken word. The results point to the material absorption coefficient and reverberation time as variables to be considered for the improvement of the acoustic conditioning of the classrooms. O processo de ensino/aprendizagem pode ser afetado por vários condicionantes, dentre os quais, as características físicas da sala de aula. Nesse sentido o condicionamento acústico trata-se de uma variável importante, uma vez que a palavra falada é o principal instrumento de transmissão de conhecimento adotado pela maioria dos professores. Inadequações acústicas podem dificultar o aprendizado, causando distração ou não compreensão da fala, chegando a ocasionar o desenvolvimento de problemas de saúde tanto no aluno quanto no docente. Justifica-se, portanto, estudar formas de aperfeiçoar o condicionamento acústico de ambientes escolares com vistas à melhoria permanente do processo de ensino e aprendizagem. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo principal desenvolver um estudo comparativo entre duas salas de aula idênticas, após adequações acústicas realizadas em uma delas. A metodologia adotada envolveu a coleta de informações sobre todos os elementos que influenciam a reflexão, absorção e transmissão de ondas sonoras nos referidos espaços e os efeitos dos materiais construtivos, dimensões e parâmetros acústicos como variáveis capazes de influenciar a percepção da palavra falada.
