This article consists of the critical analysis of civil builds implanted in Ponta Negra, listing the main technical instruments that deal with the subject, namely: Item-B of the Forensic Report: “Emergency work indication for Containment and Repair of Public Equipment and Safety of the regular visitors of the beach, Natal – RN”, Executive Project for “Containment of the Marine Erosion Process and Stabilization of the Coast Line in Ponta Negra Beach” and Technical and Environmental Feasibility Study. The methodology used in this article is based on the bibliographic and cartographic survey of documents that analyzed the coastal erosion process present on the beach, conducting a survey on the region and observing the progress of the erosive process after the implementation of coastal protection work in the studied region. It was decided to divide the structure of the Results and Discussions into 3 parts: “the sidewalk of the beach and rockfill”, which revised the procedure of reconstruction of the sidewalk and implementation of rockfill, after exposing the main consequences predicted by the authors of the forensic report, if this were the solution adopted; “Drainage system”, which indicated the current situation of the drainage system implemented in the region, pointing out its main effect on the PPN; and “erosion process”, where a cause and effect relationship was established between the implementation of a coastal protection project, the maintenance of the drainage system as it was installed and the intensification of erosion processes. Finally, the present scientific paper allowed some conclusions to be reached regarding the evolution of the erosion process in the PPN, especially after interventions with coastal protection work.

A praia de Ponta Negra (PPN), principal ponto turístico da cidade de Natal, atingiu um limiar crítico: no período de preamar sua face de praia fica completamente submersa. O presente artigo consiste na análise crítica de obras civis implantadas na orla de Ponta Negra, relacionando os principais instrumentos técnicos que tratam do assunto, quais sejam: Item-B do Laudo Pericial: “Indicação das Obras Emergenciais de Contenção e Reparação dos Equipamentos Públicos e de Segurança dos Frequentadores da Praia de Ponta Negra, Natal – RN” , Projeto Executivo para “Contenção do Processo de Erosão Marinha e Estabilização da Linha de Costa na Praia de Ponta Negra” e Estudo de Viabilidade Técnica e Ambiental. A metodologia empregada nesse artigo baseia-se no levantamento bibliográfico e cartográfico de documentos que analisaram o processo de erosão costeira presente na praia, com realização de vistoria à região e observação do avanço do processo erosivo após a implantação de obras de proteção costeira na região estudada. Optou-se por dividir a estrutura dos Resultados e Discussões em 3 partes: “calçadão e enrocamento”, no qual se fez uma revisão do procedimento de reconstrução do calçadão e implantação do enrocamento, após exposição das principais consequências previstas pelos autores do laudo pericial, caso essa fosse a solução adotada; “sistema de drenagem”, no qual se indicou a atual situação do sistema de drenagem implantado na região, apontando o seu principal efeito na PPN; e “processo erosivo”, onde se estabeleceu uma relação de causa e efeito entre a implantação de uma obra de proteção costeira, a manutenção do sistema de drenagem da forma como estava instalado e a intensificação de processos erosivos na PPN.
