The use of software to assist in structural engineering has grown over the last decade and now the engineer must have responsibility and ability to analyze computationally produced results to validate them. Reinforced concrete discontinuity regions, defined in brazilian standard code, NBR 6118:2014, cannot be designed by common procedures and deserve special treatment. Therefore, specific methods, which better represent the behavior of the structural element, for example the Strut-and-Tie Method, are needed. Among all the discontinuity regions defined in the brazilian code, the aim of this paper is to study the theory and the design methods, and then to analyze the results produced by the software CAD/TQS V20.1 and Eberick V10 in different situations of indirect support between beams and beams with sudden change in cross-section. For beams with change in cross-section, results obtained through another software, SECAOVIG, and a strut-and-tie model elaborated in this work for verification purposes were also compared. Tests were carried out, for both mentioned discontinuity regions, in frames modeled in the first two software, to study the influence of different types of structure, then evaluate and compare the computational procedures. Based on the results, it was observed that, when dealing with indirect supports between beams, both software treat the problem in a similar way and follow the recommendations of many authors and codes referenced here in this paper. However, when it comes to beams with sudden change in cross-section, the methods used by both software need to be improved to approximate the results to the recommendations of authors and brazilian codes. |

2017-12-12T10:05:27Z 2021-09-29T14:33:44Z 2017-12-12T10:05:27Z 2021-09-29T14:33:44Z 2017 bachelorThesis 2013012791 PEREIRA, Eduardo Marques Vieira.
