Descrição
Resumo:Soils are natural materials with complex behavior that can exhibit significant variability in their properties. This variability creates uncertainties that need to be adequately quantified in geotechnical projects. Therefore, this work presents an analysis of the variability of the strength parameters of sandy soils typically found in the city of Natal/RN. To achieve this, statistical analyses were performed on the results from 14 Standard Penetration Test (SPT) surveys. After correcting the SPT values according to overburden and applied energy, the t-test was used to evaluate outliers in the SPT values. Relative density correlations were then used to analyze the mean and the coefficient of variation (C.O.V.). The friction angle analysis was performed per meter and per layer. Goodness of fit tests were used to verify whether the data followed a normal or lognormal distribution. The results show that some meters in the analysis of outliers did not reduce its C.O.V. due to the dispersion of the data and amount of data in the layer, resulting in greater acceptability of this test. Regarding relative density, conservative correlation values were chosen for relative density in smaller depths. The values of C.O.V. obtained from the analysis per meters are low. The goodness of fit test by Kolmogorov-Smirnov did not reject the studied distributions, which showed similarities among themselves.
