Resumo:In this paper, the use of the Finite Element Method (FEM) is presented in order to analyze the dynamic and static behavior of a circular plate. The FEM applies finite element equations into derivatives and integrals related to the Principle of Virtual Work. Starting from the Principle of Virtual Work, a numerical analysis is developed, creating a computational code written in Fortran. Lastly, this document compares the Finite Element Method to the analytical solution, in regards to the static problem, and also compares the FEM to another numerical procedure called Finite Difference Energy Method (FDEM), in order to approach the dynamics of the circular plate. The comparison is made by analyzing the results of the three mentioned procedures on four diferente problems.
