Resumo:The oil exploration and production industry of Brazil has a major waste production. Given the current awareness of the companies and the more active environmental legislation, it is necessary to have an appropriate temporary storage prior to an environmentally correct disposal of waste, such as the non-enveloped landfills (dam). This paper aims to diagnose the situation of and industrial landfill of hazardous and non-hazardous waste of the countryside in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, related to the stability of its slopes, using Geostudio’s integrated products SLOPE/W and SEEP/W, from Geoslope International. In order to this, several scenarios were modeled stimulating real and current conditions of the landfill and also considering extreme situations of rainfall and loading. After the analyses of the scenarios, using various equilibrium limit methods, it was possible to compare to normative values and study about the influence of the variable parameters that affect the referred structure. Adding the external load and rainfall to the slope analysis, it was observed a decrease of 64% on the Factor of Safety of the critical slope and, even so, the safety of its slopes remained within the normative values. Therefore, it was possible to conclude that the results were coherent and satisfactory, since it was demonstrated the influence of the loss of cohesion and reduction of soil suction due to the advance of wetting front.
