Resumo:The city of Natal had an intense real estate development between 1990 and 2010. Throughout this period, the production of multifamily vertical buildings stands out, built under the real estate incorporation system, with varying patterns, which can switch from the ones financed by government programs such as Minha Casa, Minha vida (PMCMV) to buildings with high standards, typical on the East Zone of the town. As a way of refining the analysis of this production’s spatial distribution, this article suggests a first approximation about the use of the Geographic Information System (GIS). All the 34 real estate ventures that were registered in the neighborhood of Petropolis during the aforementioned decades were analyzed, with the focus on 3 criteria, which are: verticalization (variable – number of floors), pattern (variable – number of suites) and production cost (variable – cost per square meter).
