Resumo:The objective of this work is to analyze a soil profile in the region of Serra do Mel - RN. The soil will serve as a foundation for the wind tower hoisting cranes, the effective tensions and soil settlements were obtained through methods already recognized in the academic environment, such as Boussinesq, Newmark, Schmertmann. These results were compared to those of the OPTUM G3 software, based on the finite element method according to the elastic discretion, where the deformations and stresses behave in a linear manner. After this comparison, it was suggested the implementation of soil improvement technique by compaction to dilute the stresses and decreased the total settlements in the soil. The results show that the average settlement values in the analytical methods are, on average, 33% higher compared to the computational ones and that only the compaction method of 225 cm of soil met the allowable stress and settlement requirements. These data show considerable percentage differences between these two methods.
