Resumo:This monography departs from the context of the Brazilian economy beginning from the year of 2000, specially 2007, which was marked by the big number of companies going public in the country. Its goal is to study business strategies and the decisions made by the management of MRV Engenharia e Participações after going public, identifying and interpreting these changes based on well-established theories of corporate strategy and competitive advantage. To achieve this, reports released by the company in its website were analyzed, observing both quantitative and qualitative data. In the end, it was detected strategies to increase the production scale, reduce costs, reduce the competitive pressure suffered and keep the competitive advantage, as well as some decisions not aligned with the theories studied. The conclusion is that the company shows commitment to an action plan that keeps its position of a leader in the low cost housing market, developing, in a planned manner, strategies for that.
