Resumo: | The superconducting phenomenon was discovered by the Dutch physicist Heike Kamerlingh Onnes, when using liquid helium to cool down mercury at temperatures below 4.2K where he noticed that these samples abruptly lost their electrical resistance. In the present bachelor work, we will review quantum mechanics, briefly study how conductivity occurs in solids and introduce the concept of superconduction, by discussing the main electromagnetic properties of these materials, as well as the BCS microscopic theory of superconductors. |
