Resumo:A sustainable food system is one that provides food and nutritional security for all its agents. What are the working conditions of those who produce and process the foods that we consume? The objective of this study was to analyze and work in conditions analogous to food production and processing between 2014 and 2016 in Brazil and the state of Rio Grande do Norte. This is a quantitative descriptive study that observed the frequency of these activities in the country from the “Lista Suja”, Ministry of Labor, and in Rio Grande do Norte from a report by Regional Labor Prosecutor's Office of the 21st Region. In Brazil, of the 250 assessments, 124 (49.6%) were related to food production, being North the region more affected and the beef the target food. Of the 32 complaints in Rio Grande do Norte, 8 (25.0%) were related to food, mainly of animal origin. It is suggested, in addition to greater application of resources for inspection, the dissemination in the academic circles and in actions of Food and Nutrition Education on the subject, in order to generate results that support the public actions towards a structure of sustainable food systems and healthy for all.
