| Resumo: | Cultural mediation, one of the actions developed by the Serviço Social do Comércio (Sesc), is an important activity that can represent a major sociocultural change in the formation of citizens, especially in children and adolescents who are in the process of social, cultural and physical development. Thus, the work aims to demonstrate the importance of the development of cultural mediation that occurs in the library of Sesc Zona Norte with the users of the unit. Its general objective is to demonstrate the importance of the development of cultural mediation that occurred at the Sesc / ZN library. Specifically aims: the conceptualization of cultural mediation; present the actions of cultural mediation performed in the library; verify the impact that these actions have on society; emphasize the importance of the librarian in the realization of cultural mediation. As methodological procedures, it makes use of bibliographic, documentary, monographic research, qualitative approach, descriptive and exploratory objectives and questionnaire with 14 teachers from public schools in the northern region of Natal. It shows in the analysis of the results the positive impacts that the library, through its process of cultural mediation, causes in society, enabling the construction of social protagonism and critical thinking. Finally, it concludes that the library is an important social institution whose obligation is to promote difference and cause positive impacts on society, from its spaces, services and actions, evidencing a social and equality role in the community that operates. It also highlights the role of the librarian as a cultural mediator in front of spaces like this that need to constantly reinvent itself with society and always aware of the needs it presents. |
