description This work aimed to analyze from a comparative perspective the fulfillment of guiding principles of good publishing practices in three scientific journals in the area of Information Science. As a theoretical framework, a brief history of the emergence of scientific journals and their migration from the printed to the electronic format made possible by Information and Communication Technologies is presented. It is also analyzed that in view of the exponential growth of titles of created journals and the cognitive market practiced by commercial publishers, there was a need to create quality indicators for scientific journals that adhere to the open access model. In order to carry out the research, documents guiding good editorial management practices proposed by the Committee on Publications Ethics (COPE) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) were located; the principles, criteria and policies for the management of journals were identified and based on these indicators, the publishing policies and processes of renowned journals in the area of Information Science were compared, identifying and indicating best publishing practices. The comparative analysis was carried out with the journals: Informação & Sociedade, Perspectivas em Ciência da Informação e Transinformação. The analysis showed that magazines generally comply with the principles of good publishing practices listed by COPE and SciELO. However, there are aspects to be improved, such as the establishment of explicit policies to address ethical issues and research integrity, and information on whether or not to charge publication fees, the latter being identified only in the journal Transinformation. The identified principles can serve as a reference both for new electronic scientific journals, and for those already in force and who wish to improve their evaluations through the evaluation agencies.

Este trabalho objetivou analisar desde uma perspectiva comparada o cumprimento de princípios norteadores de boas práticas editoriais em três periódicos científicos da área de Ciência da Informação. Como marco teórico se apresenta um breve histórico do surgimento dos periódicos científicos e sua migração do formato impresso para o eletrônico possibilitado pelas Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação. Diante do crescimento exponencial de títulos de periódicos criados e do mercado cognitivo praticado pelas editoras comerciais, verificou-se a necessidade de se criar indicadores de qualidade para periódicos científicos adeptos ao modelo de acesso livre. Para desenvolver a pesquisa se localizaram documentos norteadores de boas práticas de gestão editorial, propostos pelo Comitê de Ética em Publicações (COPE) e pelo Scientific Eletronic Libray Online (SciELO), se identificaram os princípios, critérios e políticas de gestão de periódicos e com base nesses indicadores se compararam as políticas e processos editoriais de conceituados periódicos da área da Ciência da Informação, identificando e indicando as boas práticas editoriais. A análise comparativa foi realizada com as revistas: Informação & Sociedade, Perspectivas em Ciência da Informação e Transinformação. A análise apontou que de forma geral as revistas cumprem com os princípios de boas práticas editoriais elencados pelo COPE e pelo SciELO. Contudo, há aspectos a serem melhorados como o estabelecimento de políticas explícitas para tratamento de questões éticas e integridade da pesquisa e informação sobre cobrança ou não de taxas de publicação, quesito este último identificado apenas na revista Transinformação.
