Resumo:Reader training is a fundamental and vastly explored research topic in Education; when it comes to Librarianship and Information Studies, the subject is usually explored from a school libraries' perspective. Against this backdrop, this final study sheds light on reader training in the context of university libraries, more specifically the Central Library Zila Mamede at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (BCZM/UFRN). To the extent that literature books offer a rich source of information to support the development of a broader and robust academic formation, the current study aims to survey how often central campus undergraduate students consult literature books from the BCZM collection. The study applies the quantitative approach method while following the case study type of procedural method with the application of questionnaires and as for its objectives the research was descriptive. In this context, the study conducts a thorough quantitative-descriptive survey to understand the reader's behavioral pattern concerning the use of the BCZM's literary collection. It concludes by pointing out potential strategies on how to increase the frequency with which students access literature books and, therefore, how to boost reader training and expand the use of library resources.
