description Social control enables citizens to play an active role in their country´s public policy definition. It is through information access that individuals obtain necessary resources to promote a more meaningful dialogue between society and the State. This research aims to study the characteristics related to the social control of information within the International Labor Organization (ILO). Specifically it deals with the process of monitoring the implementation of Convention No. 100 that relates to Equal Remuneration for Men and Women Workers for Work of Equal Value. It seeks to answer the following research problem: Is the social control of information in Brazil achieved through cooperation between social partners and the government? and does it favor the effective application of the consolidated principles in the fundamental convention No.100?. The hypothesis defended in the research is that both social partners and Brazilian government, contribute to the process of monitoring the convention implantation carried out by the ILO Experts Committee, once they provide information regarding the convention´s current situation by means of periodical reporting. The general objective of the study is to identify, comprehend and describe the characteristics of the social control of information in the production and systematization of information, related to convention No.100 in the Brazilian setting. As for specific research objectives, the research aims to a) analyze ILO Committee´s comments sent to Brazil on Convention 100 throughout a ten-year period (2009-2019) b) identify the actors involved in the process of social control of information; c) understand the informational content peculiarities in the monitoring process, The methodology used was of inductive method, documental and bibliographical research approach regarding data collection, as well as historical approach and case study. Finally, it is confirmed that the hypothesis is valid, as it was found that both social partners and the government cooperated to produce information contained in the reports sent by the ILO.

O Controle social permite que os cidadãos possam participar ativamente na definição de políticas públicas desenvolvidas por seu país. É por meio do acesso à informação que o indivíduo obtém os recursos necessários para a promoção de um diálogo eficiente entre sociedade e Estado. A pesquisa possui como objeto de estudo as características do controle social da informação no âmbito da Organização Internacional do Trabalho (OIT), mais especificamente acerca do processo de monitoramento da implementação da convenção n. 100 que versa sobre a igualdade de remuneração de homens e mulheres trabalhadores por trabalho de igual valor. Busca responder a seguinte problemática: governo e parceiros sociais cooperam para que se exerça o controle social da informação favorecendo a efetiva aplicação dos princípios consolidados na convenção fundamental n. 100? A hipótese defendida é a de que tanto os parceiros sociais como o governo brasileiro, cooperam para o controle social da informação uma vez que contribuem com informações sobre a real situação de determinada convenção, oportunizando o processo de monitoramento de implementação de convenções realizado pelo Comitê de Peritos da OIT. O objetivo geral do estudo é identificar, compreender e descrever características do controle social da informação na produção e sistematização de informações, relativas à convenção de nº 100 no contexto brasileiro. Quanto aos objetivos específicos têm-se: a) analisar os comentários do Comitê de Peritos da OIT no período de dez anos (2009-2019) enviados ao Brasil sobre a convenção nº 100; b) identificar os atores envolvidos no processo de controle social da informação; c) compreender as peculiaridades do conteúdo informacional encontrado no processo de monitoramento. No que diz respeito aos caminhos metodológicos, essa pesquisa é classificada como indutiva, quanto ao método de abordagem utilizado, pesquisa documental e bibliográfica quanto as técnicas de coleta de dados, além de se valer dos métodos de abordagem histórico e estudo de caso.
