| Resumo: | This work discusses issues related to Document Management in audiovisual collections present in television stations in the city of Natal in Rio Grande do Norte in Brazil. The research reports how these materials are stored with different denominations but similar work methods. It defines the type of archives, recognizing audiovisual material as a document, in accordance with the Recommendations for the Safeguarding of the Audiovisual Heritage of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). It deals with information conservation and access to in the mentioned collections as a way to guarantee access for the next generations. Even though there is production, recording and daily consumption of information and news in television stations, the result of document management in this environment is still not recognized as a collection of social, institutional and even journalistic memory. The research was based on the hypothesis that, in order to be maintained and preserved, audiovisual archives need specific management strategies. These actions should be carried out by a qualified professional, at the risk that the information will be forever lost. The main objective of this research is to acknowledge Documentary Management practices in audiovisual collections focusing on the case of tele journalism archives. Specifically, it aims to retrieve the history of the main TV stations of the State; describe how the media is stored in their respective files; verify the preservation and conservation measures adopted as well as describe the information retrieval process in this realm. A qualitative approach was used as a descriptive method, with the use of bibliographic research and a case study Data was collected through observation and interviews in two institutions a public and private one. It was possible to conclude that there is lack of adequate management in the environment that store several types of media, which keep a large daily production of informational material denounces the disregard of the stakeholders in safeguarding and conserving audiovisual heritage. |
