The internet through the web and its products has become a fertile environment for the occurrence of phenomena such as disinformation and Fake News. Thus, it is necessary to discuss these current phenomena considering their complexities. This work aims to analyze the phenomena ofdisinformation in order to understand it as the main source of the Fake News. Specifically it aims to point out concepts and typology of information sources in general and on the Internet; map the main concepts presented on the themes of disinformation and Fake News; indicate the main methods and tools for evaluating information sources as well as to point out the role of the librarian in this context. The methodology was bibliographical research with use of current materials that discuss these phenomena. Also, the research considered the precepts of the qualitative and exploratory research. Results indicate that disinformation and Fake News existed previously but with less intensity. It was seen that they gained greater momentum due to the technological conditions propitiated by the advance of ICT and web 2.0. However, the conceptual frameworks between misinformation and Fake News are tenuous and little clarified in the scholarly literature on the subject. Some authors as distinct consider these phenomena, but in their concepts they present as false information the purpose of which is to deceive an individual or community purposely or not It has been seen that many tools have been developed in order to combat them but it is perceived that they are still little known and disseminated. It was possible to infer that the librarian as an information professional has attributes in adequate competences to contribute significantly to combat these types of phenomena. However, further studies are needed, as well as the insertion of these contents into the educationa training of this professional aiming to broaden the debate and create knowledge on this subject.

No contexto atual, e como resposta a crescente inserção e apropriação da Tecnologia da informação (TIC) e comunicação no quotidiano dos sujeitos, as informações circulam numa velocidade muito acelerada. A internet por meio da web e seus produtos, tem se tornado um ambiente fértil para a ocorrência de fenômenos tais como o da desinformação e as Fake News.Faz-se necessário discutir estes fenômenos atuais e sua complexidade. Diante disso, este trabalho tem como objetivo principal promover uma análise do fenômeno da desinformação deforma a entendê-lo como fonte principal das Fake News. Especificamente e como forma de contextualizar o assunto, visa apontar conceitos e tipologia das fontes de informação no geral ena Internet; mapear os principais conceitos apresentados acerca da desinformação e das FakeNews; indicar os principais métodos e ferramentas de avaliação de fontes de informação bem como apontar o papel do bibliotecário neste contexto. A metodologia do trabalho foi a de pesquisa bibliográfica com uso de materiais atualizados que discorrem sobre o fenômeno bem como o uso de preceitos da pesquisa qualitativa e exploratória. Resultados indicam que a desinformação e as Fake News existiam anteriormente, porém com menor intensidade. Foi visto que estes fenômenos ganharam maior impulso devido as condições tecnológicas propiciadas pelo avanço da TIC e da web 2.0. No entanto, as fronteiras conceituais entre o fenômeno da desinformação e das Fake News são tênues e pouco esclarecidas na literatura científica sobre o tema. Tais fenômenos são considerados por alguns autores como distintos, porém em seus conceitos apresentam-se como informações falsas quem tem como objetivo enganar um indivíduo ou comunidade propositalmente ou não. Foi visto que muitas ferramentas têm sido desenvolvidas de forma a combatê-las, porém percebe-se que ainda são pouco conhecidas e divulgadas. Foi possível inferir que o bibliotecário como profissional da informação possui atributos e competências adequadas para contribuir de forma significativa no combate a esses tipos de fenômenos.
