Resumo:This study discourses the importance of the work of the information professional, working in the health area, on the interaction of the librarian with professionals from other areas of knowledge, thus evidencing an interdisciplinarity of Librarianship. Its main objective to analyze how the librarian can, based on your abilities and competences, be part of a multidisciplinary care team for the cancer patient, considering that evidence-based medicine (EBM) is a field of practice for this professional. It specifically aims to describe the actions performed by the information professional, along with the benefits attributed to both the multidisciplinary oncology team and the patient; knowing how a multiprofessional team assisting the cancer patient conducts their research; to present the experience of a Brazilian clinical librarian with experience in the oncology area and to verify the perception of the health professionals about the clinical librarian acting in the multidisciplinary teams of cancer treatment. For data collection, an online interview was conducted with a clinical librarian with experience in oncology and a virtual survey was applied to health professionals who works in a specialized team of an oncology hospital of the state of Rio Grande do Norte. Its results: a chart with the main activities developed by the clinical librarian in oncology with activities related to the Brazilian Classification of Occupations; the report about the experience in this area collected through the interview; the description of how the research is done by the team, as well as the knowledge and practice of evidence-based medicine and the recognition of the importance of the clinical librarian's performance by the multidisciplinary team. It is concluded that EBM is not the only reason that justifies the work of the librarian with health professionals; there is a need to expand research on the use of evidence-based medicine and the presence of Clinical Library Science in Brazil, as well as to carry out studies on the new performance scenarios, publicising the potential of the information professional.
