Resumo:Inflammatory External Root Resorption is available for some well-defined topics in the literature, such as Strength that exceeds the physiological repair capacity during orthodontic treatment. However, with fewer references in the literature are as idiopathic. Therefore, this study sought to make an integrative review in order to know what are the most used therapeutic practices in treatment and also seeking to know some characteristics inherent in the progression of this condition. As a methodology, opt for the integrative review and bibliographic surveys conducted by Pubmed, Medline and Lilacs. This allows you to search for works published from 2015 and they must use the inclusion and exclusion criteria. To survey the works, the following keywords were used: root resorption and idiopathic; calcium hydroxide and idiopathic; endodontics and idiopathic. Also, as a topic so far little addressed in the literature, books have been added to the survey. Regarding the results, six articles were selected, two records for the use of MTA as the ideal drug for treatment when approached to root canal obturation therapy; Three articles demonstrated the possibility of this genetic linkage reactive condition and one article demonstrated success in orthodontic treatment of a patient with severe idiopathic external root resorption. Therefore, we conclude that scientific research is needed most for subsidiaries or clinics in this area.
