Resumo:Introduction: Monitoring the oral health status of renal patients is essential to identify possible pathologies secondary to immunosuppression as it will directly interfere with the success of kidney transplants. Objective: To identify bone pathologies using a scale for analysis of bone tissue microstructure in nephropathic patients treated at the Department of Dentistry. Methodology: The study is characterized by being individualized, having as a parcel of analysis patients with chronic renal failure assisted by the UFRN dentistry department in the Nephropathy Care Project. These were analyzed by radiographic and laboratory exams, by which bone pathologies that may interfere with the quality of bone tissue and predispose to lower mechanical competence were suggested or not. Data were obtained from the trauma department of UFRN and from the Analysis Laboratory of Onofre Lopes University Hospital (HUOL) and tabulated in the Excel program (Microsoft Office 2016®), containing patients' personal data (according to the selected medical record), besides clinical and radiographic characteristics. From this, Fisher's exact and non-parametric Mann-Whitney (U) tests were performed to associate the variables. Results: The trabecular bone pattern III or IV, evaluated in group A, was more frequently observed in males up to 40 years old. In group B, bone pattern I or II was more frequently observed in men up to 40 years old. Regarding the dosage of calcium, phosphorus and PTH there was no statistically significant association, however, in the serum alkaline phosphatase dosage there was a statistically significant difference in relation to gender. Conclusion: Early and adequate diagnosis of oral radiographic clinical manifestations requires dental professionals always updated knowledge in order to prevent or minimize the occurrence of complications of the general health of these patients awaiting kidney transplantation.
