Objective: To evaluate the cytotoxicity of curcumin in human embryonic cell lines - HEK and human pancreatic cancer cells - PANC. Methods: The Alamar Bluue test was used in the combinations of 6.25 μM, 12.5 μM, 25 μM, 50 μM, 100 μM, 125 μM, 250 μM, 500 μM, 1000 μM, 2000 μM, 4000 μM and 5000 μM of each drug. (curcumin, ascorbic acid and cisplatin microemulsion), evaluated after 24h, 48h and 72h by spectrophotometric analysis, and statistical analysis using the Bonferonni test. Results: In the dose of curcumin administered on the PANC cells, 6.25 μM, after 24 hours the cell viability was 50% (IC 50); at its highest dose, 5000 μM, a viability of 25%; after 48 hours, lower utilization rate was lower than 50%, striking 0% at 2000μM; After 72h, the lowest difficulty was also less than 50%, reaching 0% in 100μM. When this occurs in the same HEK cells, at the lowest concentration, after 24 hours, it is an increase of 80%, with a gradual increase of the cellular energy concentration, reaching 0% in the concentration in 500 μM, and remaining in 1000μM, 2000μM, 4000μM and 5000μM. After 48h, they were already less than 5%, reaching 50 μM. Passengers 72 hours there was no cell viability in any of the pumps ascertained. Conclusions: In contrast to the expectations generated, a curcumin microemulsion presented higher cytotoxicity in all analyzed concentrations.
