Objective: Check the level of knowledge of pregnant women about aspects of oral health during pregnancy. Methodology: The research consisted of a observational, descriptive and transversal study, in which the data were collected through a questionnaire composed of fourteen questions, six of which were objective and four were subjective. The target population were pregnant with the prenatal program of the Aparecida Health Unit in Natal –RN. Results: The mean age was 26.75 ± 6.55 years; 45.83% of the interviewed women were in the third trimester of pregnancy, 29.16% in the second and 25% in the first; 95.83% of the interviewees reported not smoking; 91.67% did not use drugs; 50% mentioned performing dental care linked to prenatal care; 50% of the pregnant women said they received some information about oral health; 37,50% presented some dental problem; 79% had no dental problems before pregnancy; 54.17% believe that pregnancy causes or may cause a problem in their mouth; 100% use toothbrush and toothpaste; 50% use dental floss, 16.66% use oral mouthwashes, and 29.17% of participants agree that gingival changes can affect their health and that of the baby. Conclusion: There was little knowledge of pregnant women about oral health and pregnancy, which may denote the poor effectiveness of health education practices during prenatal care.

Introdução: Durante a gravidez deflagram-se inúmeras mudanças de ordem psicológica, social e biológica, incluindo alterações no ambiente bucal, que podem comprometer a saúde. O período gestacional é propicio a esclarecimentos e conscientização sobre mitos, crenças e preocupações que envolvem o tratamento odontológico. Por isso, pesquisas com abordagem qualitativa proporcionarão a identificação das barreiras ao atendimento odontológico, o nível de conhecimento sobre a saúde bucal e os hábitos de higiene durante a gestação. Objetivo: Verificar o nível de conhecimento de gestantes sobre os aspectos da saúde bucal durante a gravidez. Metodologia: A pesquisa consistiu de um estudo observacional, descritivo e transversal, no qual os dados foram coletados através de questionário composto por quatorze questões, sendo seis objetivas e quatro subjetivas. A população alvo foram gestantes do programa de pré-natal da Unidade de Saúde de Aparecida, em Natal -RN. Resultados: A média de idade foi 26,75 ± 6,55 anos; 45,83% das mulheres entrevistadas encontravam-se no terceiro trimestre de gravidez, 29,16% no segundo e 25% no primeiro; 95,83% das entrevistadas relataram não fumar; 91,67% não usavam drogas; 50% mencionaram realizar atendimento odontológico vinculado ao pré-natal; 50% das gestantes disseram receber alguma informação sobre a saúde bucal; 37,50% apresentaram algum problema odontológico; 79% não apresentavam problemas odontológicos antes da gravidez; 54,17% acreditam que a gravidez causa ou pode causar algum problema na sua boca; 100% utilizam escova de dente e creme dental; 50% utilizam o fio dental; 16,66% utilizam colutórios bucais e 29,17% das participantes concordam que alterações gengivais podem afetar a sua saúde e a do bebê.
