Resumo:Objectives: To evaluate in vitro the bond strength of the self-etching adhesive system, and of this modified with extractive solutions of grape seed, from acetone and ethanol as solvents. Methodology: Two extractive solutions were prepared from powdered grape seed extract dissolved in acetone and ethanol. From these, and from the Single Bond Universal Adhesive (3M ESPE, Neuss, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany), six self-etching adhesive systems were prepared, differing as to the solvent used and the ratio of pure adhesive to extractive solution, varying by 7.5%, 15% and 30%. Seventy healthy bovine incisors had roots removed with carborundum disc and the vestibular faces worn by means of 120, 240, 600 and 1200 granulation water sands under refrigeration until exposing the superficial dentin. The teeth were randomly distributed into seven distinct groups, Control; A7,5; A15; A30; E7,5; E15; and E30, containing 10 elements each. The application of adhesive systems was performed according to the recommendations of the manufacturer of the Universal Single Bond. The restoration was carried out by means of a silicon matrix with dimensions 2 mm in height and 4 mm in diameter in which the restoring material was inserted in a single increment and photopolymerized for 40 s. After three months stored in distilled water, the specimens were submitted to the bond strength test. The statistical method used was the Anova 1 Parametric Test and Tanhane post-test (p <0.05). Results: The groups A7.5, E7.5 and E30 presented no difference in relation to the Control group; the groups A15 and A30 showed statistically similar performance among themselves; and the E15 group did not present statistical difference in relation to the other groups of adhesives evaluated. Conclusion: The addition of proanthocyanidin had different effects depending on the solvents and concentrations used, but without significantly altering the performance of the adhesive.
