Faced with the growing necessity to deal with the environment as a source to be preserved, and to align our development model with social and environmental responsibility, increase also a commitment to build efficient legislation and responsible oversight on the theme. The recent disasters of Brumadinho and Mariana, in Minas Gerais, have opened the flaws of the environmental licensing process in the country and impose the urgency of an effective inspection of the issue, both of society and of the academy. In view of this, the present seeks to analyze, from the Environment Impact Reports, the situation of industries focused in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. From a methodology of evaluation of RIMAs based on the assignment of values ​​and documental analysis, it was sought to construct an overview of the state situation, pointing out the main errors found and which points were neglected in the stages of environmental diagnosis, impact assessment and management, all the necessary parts to build an environmental impact assessment. Finally, it was noticed the urgency of a public commitment to the effectiveness of the licensing, in order to build an economically and environmentally viable future and the need to strengthen the licensing agencies. Diante da crescente necessidade de tratar o meio ambiente como um bem a ser preservado, e aliar nosso modelo de desenvolvimento com a responsabilidade socioambiental, cresce também o compromisso de construir uma legislação eficiente e uma fiscalização responsável sobre o tema. Os recentes desastres de Brumadinho e Mariana, em Minas Gerais, escancaram as falhas do processo de licenciamento ambiental no país e nos impõem a urgência de uma fiscalização efetiva do tema, tanto da parte da sociedade quanto da parte da academia. Diante disso, o presente trabalho busca analisar, a partir dos relatórios de impacto ambiental, a situação das indústrias com recorte no estado do Rio Grande do Norte. A partir de uma metodologia de avaliação de RIMAs baseado na atribuição de valores e análise documental, buscou-se construir um panorama da situação estadual, apontando os principais erros encontrados e quais pontos foram negligenciados nas etapas de diagnóstico ambiental, avaliação de impactos e plano de gestão, todas parte da construção de uma avaliação de impacto ambiental.
