description The present study aims to use the Calgary Model to understand the context lived by the family member and person undergoing hemodialysis treatment. This is an exploratory descriptive cross-sectional study with a qualitative approach. The place of capture of the research participants was the Santa Rita Nephrology Center. This is located in the city of Santa Cruz-RN and is a reference for several health regions of the state for hemodialysis treatment. Patients referred by the clinical team who were undergoing hemodialysis treatment were invited to participate in the study, with at least 12 sessions performed and at least one caregiver whom the individual considers as family. The limitation of the sample was given by saturation, whose collection is interrupted when the researcher reaches his goal when the information becomes redundant (FONTANELLA, 2008). This occurred in June and July 2019, in the environment of the clinic itself with the patient and his companion. To collect patient and family information, guiding questions were used for the construction of the genogram and ecomap, as directed by Wright and Leahey (2002), which were later presented to the interviewees with the intention of better understanding their family and confirming the information. harvested. Data collection was performed with nine families, initially with the patient and then with their family member, separately. From the speeches presented during the conversation about the family, and with both individuals, the following categories were elaborated: Sources of support; Renounce; Coping with the disease; Biggest obstacles; Watch out. The transformation occurred by the diagnosis and the family relationship make some family members need to be present, so that they realign their structure. It is still possible to observe the infinity of relationships that were transformed or broken and how a new way of living with the disease was established, and especially as the professionals who are present in the discourse and thus bringing responsibility and involvement to each patient.

It is still possible to observe the infinity of relationships that were transformed or broken and how a new way of living with the disease was established, and especially as the professionals who are present in the discourse and thus bringing responsibility and involvement to each patient. 2023-01-31 2019-12-19T14:39:40Z 2021-09-27T12:09:14Z 2019-12-19T14:39:40Z 2019-12-04 bachelorThesis 2015098436 BORGES, Barbara Ebilizarda Coutinho.
